Guitar Rig 4 and Mac Audio

Guitar Rig 4 and Mac Audio

Native Instruments really have created the ultimate all in one guitar processing system for Mac. All you need is the Guitar Rig Kontrol Edition (read our review) and a Mac to easily recreate the guitar sounds of the masters.

Over the last week I have been playing guitar through the headphone socket on the Kontrol unit and although is the audio output preferred by the other members of my family I would rather be free from headphone discomfort and dragging cables.

One option is to hook the Kontrol edition up to a guitar amp or monitor speakers but in actual fact you can avoid this extra expensive with a few tweaks within Leopard’s audio settings.

In this video tutorial I am going to demonstrate how easy it is to route guitar through the Kontrol edition and out the speakers in your Mac.

As usual this video is also in our YouTube channel.

If you aren’t too scared of technical documentation there is a written tutorial on the Apple site I should point out that this page is slightly out of date as the audio interface in Snow Leopard doesn’t correspond to the one discussed in the document.

If you want to record your guitar sounds and ideas in Garageband then check out this tutorial.
