This week’s FaF is local student, blogger, and social animal Ciarán Madden. Ciarán is  probably most importantly is the Chief Organiser of CupcakeCamp Ireland. He is currently working on extending CupcakeCamp from it’s roots in Belfast into Dublin this year.

1. Tweetie

Undoubtedly the ultimate twitter app for Mac. Support for multiple accounts, saved searches, in app picture post viewing and Twitlonger integration.

Couldn’t get much more fully featured nor better placed to be my app of choice as the original iPhone version is equally wonderful and there’s nothing better than app consistency across platforms in my book. [Link]

2 Adium

Useful, utilitarian and very simple to operate. Rolls all your IM accounts into one lovely contact list. Easy to get off and running and works with a multitude of IM platforms.

Unfortunately it doesn’t support video chat which would be a nice option but when it comes to straightforward instant communication with all your contacts, Adium it is. [Link]

3 NetNewsWire

Until this version of NNW I can safely say I hated it. It didn’t quite seem to have a point and syncing across my iPhone and Mac just didn’t add up.

Now that it uses Google Reader for syncing and after a wonderful little redesign it suddenly caught my eye and fast became one of my most used apps. Straightforward RSS reader design with no frills and the feature to post articles to your weblog through MarsEdit makes it a useful blogging tool too. [Link]

Being at school, doing English, History and Politics means only one thing; essays. Pages is truly the premier word processing application for the Mac.

It surpasses MS Word by lightyears and has a fantastic template set. Professional results guaranteed and an easy interface to master, packs a wonderful design punch with features like ‘Instant Alpha’ which makes graphics blend seamlessly into documents. [Link]

5 The Hit List

Of the many Getting Things Done apps, none has been more addictive and pretty to look at as this one and the promise of an impending iPhone app can only be a good thing.

Lovely design and sorting of tasks. Helps keep ongoing projects away from your day to day tasks thereby helping with time management. Bliss. [Link]
