EyeTV 3.4 : Live & Recorded TV on iPad

Elgato have just released EyeTV 3.4, a free software update for all EyeTV 3 users, which adds optimized support for playback on iPad. The new version features one-click export of recorded television shows, automatically creating HD video files optimized for superb quality playback on the iPad’s high resolution screen.

EyeTV 3.4 also includes support for streaming of live TV to the iPad using the EyeTV app for iPhone/iPad, which will be available on the iTunes App Store in the near future.

Easy, Beautiful Exports: Set it and forget it

EyeTV makes it easy to record individual shows or entire series with its Smart Guides and Smart Series features. Recordings can now be automatically converted to iPad format and added to iTunes, ready for syncing. EyeTV’s one-click export buttons in the toolbar can be configured to export to iPad-optimized format (as well as iPhone, iPod, and Apple TV).

Recordings exported to iPad format from EyeTV are displayed with elegant cover art and rich program details, including series and episode descriptions, movie summaries and cast descriptions, and even parental ratings (where available).

TV Streaming for iPad and iPhone

EyeTV 3.4 adds support for the forthcoming version 1.1 of the EyeTV app (review) which streams live or recorded TV to the iPad, over Wi-Fi or 3G networks.

The EyeTV App (£2.99/$4.99 US/€3.99, a free update for current owners) will be available on the iTunes App Store in the next few days. The EyeTV app is a universal app, meaning it also works with both iPod touch and iPhone, rounding out our EyeTV’s complete support for all Apple mobile devices. With EyeTV 3.4 and the EyeTV app, the iPad becomes the ultimate portable television.
