XNotifier for Mac
Are you one of those obsessive types who checks Facebook every two seconds for the latest updates on your status? It isn’t that easy to get work done when you’re constantly refreshing Facebook to see if anyone “liked” your current status update.
Welcome xNotifier for Mac, available exclusively through the Apple App store. xNotifier works behind the scenes to give you the latest updates from your Facebook.
xNotifier, on first launch, asks you to sign in with your Facebook account. You then link all your messages, friend requests and account activity to the app. xNotifier installs a tiny icon in your menu bar. You can click it to change your preferences, change the Facebook account you’re using or quit the app.
The app also allows you to control the rate of your notification intervals. Allowing xNotifier to use growl keeps your Facebook updates coming, but without all the time waste of navigating to your profile page, or trolling the news feed.
Verdict:
All in all a tidy little app. It does exactly what it says on the package. I’m a bit of a sucker for programs that use growl for notifications; it gives you the update, but if you’re really involved in your work you can ignore it. Simple, easy to use and cheap.
