Lion Available in Mac App Store
The wait is over. All rumors dispelled. Mac OSX Lion is available today.
And you can purchase it from the App Store.
Doing away with packaging and a visit to the local Apple retailer, Lion can be downloaded over an Internet connection for the low, low price of $29.99.
Lion offers a lot of new fancy features.
Multi-touch – Swiping the page moves from one application to the next, doing away with the old Apple + Tab shortcut. You can open Mission control, a new feature combining Expose, Dashboard and Spaces, by swiping up. Swiping down opens Launchpad, a new application interface that makes viewing all your apps at once a snap.
Full-Screen Applications – You can view all compatible apps in glorious full screen with the press of a button.
Mail – A new widescreen layout for the Mail application lets you view the message list from your inbox, and the message itself side-by-side.
Auto save and document histories – on all applications ensures you never lose work or make a change that can’t be undone.
AirDrop – This new app, included with Lion, allows you to share documents on the cloud. AirDrop is supported on most Apple models from late 2008 on.
Safari – A new reading list function allows you to save web pages for later viewing. Gone are the days when browsers kneeled down under the weight of open tabs.
Requirements for the new system are minimal, simply 3.49 GB of space available and OS X 10.6.6 or later.
