I don’t think I have written a hardware review yet that someone hasn’t posted a personal experience or problem with customer service. For every manufacturer there will always be someone who has had a problem. From a personal point of view I bought my first EyeTV system 5 years ago and it still works, I had a problem 3 years ago and Elgato sorted it with in a day. If you feel there is something wrong with your hardware send it back to where you bought it. I buy hardware not on the basis of the quality of customer service but on how good the hardware or software is. I genuinely can’t fault Elgato for service, they have support forums and I find I receive replies within the day. As for this product, I have been using it for a a week and it does everything it advertises, it meets my personal needs perfectly.

I don’t want this to continue with a flame war.

Don’t know where you live, but in the UK the contract is with the supplier not the manufacturer period.

Ofcourse it is not good when they are not responsive that is not what I said at all so don’t twist my words. And don’t be silly to think I am on the Elgato payroll either, didn’t I just criticise this product in this thread? I’m just telling you that you are barking up the wrong tree if you want a replacement…

Wow… So you defend horrible customer service, easily the worst in the industry in my experience or very close, by brushing it off on a technicality of who you should contact? The warranty for a defective product is, the last time I checked, the responsibility of the manufacturer, not the vendor you purchase it from, so I really am puzzled by your response. How much is Elgato paying to have you deflect complaints? I posted publicly about my issue and I had a lot of people email me privately asking how to get more resolution with them because it is certainly not an isolated instance.

To be honest when you purchase something your contract is with the supplier not the manufacturer, so if it doesn’t work at all you should go there and return it.

Yes there are two major omissions in this review. No DVB T2 compliance makes this a non starter for the UK and Elgato’s service is easily one of the worst I have ever encountered. My Hybrid is totally bricked and they are simply not interested, I’m on about the ninth exchange of e-mails and no further forward. I would urge caution, great if all going well and no desire for HD viewing in the future, offset by the fat if anything goes wrong then there is a chance you’ll be on your own with an expensive paperweight.

Hi i have a iphone 3g 8gb new model, i seem to be having the same problem others have had but mine wont be fixed!. I have ensured plug-ins and java are enabled (and checked this by playing videos on you tube – quick time loads and plays them fine). I have followed the steps above several times aswell, I can go to the webpage login etc but when i click a channel it just goes to a blank white screen with the codes in the address bar (presumemably trying to load the page, when i refresh nothing happens). This occurs on both wifi and 3G, I have strong signals and fast speeds otherwise.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I am a student in Australia doing my Masters in Cross Disciplinary Arts at COFA, at the University of NSW. My two chosen disciplines are Video Art and illustration.

Apparently I have to work out my processes by looking at people’s work I admire. We have been asked to research methods, disciplines and materials

I’m not sure where to take my study, but I know children’s illustration, illustrative short film making, visual healing (helping people heal through visualisation and visual reality) and stop motion has always interested me. The artist Williams Kendrick illustrates, but then uses stop motion to create his art. That really interests me.
I’m stuck really.
Can I ask all of you, what you think. I use a graphics pad, can use Painter, Photoshop…is there a way to incorporate any of that in a stop motion effect type video? Do you know of any programs equipment I must have, or should think about, or artist I should think about?
Sorry to make it sound so personal, but I’m stuck and am wondering where to take this all.

Then follow this:
1. Close the TVCatchup Tab, in your iphone Safari Browser.
2. Close Safari
3. Go to Settings->Safari
4. Ensure that Javascript and Plug-Ins are Enabled. (Turn them OFF and ON again) 5. Ensure that “Accept Cookies” is set to “From Visited” or “Always”
6. Click “Clear History”
7. Click “Clear Cookies”
8. Click “Clear Cache”
9. Turn your iphone completely OFF for a few moments, then turn it back on again.
——-
10. Open Safari Browser
11. As to Step 1, TVCatchup should be closed. So now type “http://iphone.tvcatchup.com”
12. Click the “Login” button
13. Enter Username
14. Click “Next”
15. Enter Password
16. Click “Done” on top (Not “Go” on bottom) 17. Click on the Orange “Login” button.
18. The page should now refresh and say “Logged In As USERNAME” in Orange at the top?
19. Watch TV

I have logged in to tvcatchup but when I select a channel it briefly shows the quicktime symbol then disappears and I’m left with a black screen. What am i doing wrong. Plug ins is on Help please. i am standing next to my friend who is able to watch tv instantly?
