Apple’s Production Manager for Apple Automator Sal Soghoian is no stranger to any Apple developer. One of the names behind Apple’s Automator Workflow application he shared the stage with Steve Jobs while introducing this whole new way to work. To many Automator is just another icon in OSX yet to be explored but the reality is Automator offers us all a much more efficient way to work.

Taking the example of the education setting Sal has put together a really simple to follow guide on how Automator can come to the aid of the teacher and is actually much easier to use than you would think.

Embedding YouTube video in Keynote in 3 Easy Steps

Embedding YouTube video in Keynote in 3 Easy Steps

Recently I have attended three different separate events where the speaker referenced video from YouTube. On all of the occasions the video definitely added value to the presentation but sadly the speakers had to quit from PowerPoint / Keynote and use the web browser to play the relevant video.

Syncing Things for Mac via Dropbox

I have been a massive fan of the Getting Things Done (GTD) philosophy for a couple of years now. Like most people I am generally working on about a dozen projects at once and each project has a large number of “next action” tasks that I have to work through to keep everything just ticking over.

Managing my life using the brilliant ‘Getting Things Done’ application Things for Mac has really helped me become more efficient, and I now tend to remember to do those “must do that” tasks from conversations or emails.

Sharing Presets in Guitar Rig 4

Sharing Presets in Guitar Rig 4

One of the most exciting aspects of Guitar Rig 4 (Review Link) is the ability to share presets with other guitarists. Better still the presets can be shared regardless if they were created on the Windows version or on a Mac.

I decided I would try to recreate the guitar sound for one my favourite (live) Pearl Jam songs. I am no expert in replicating guitar sounds but I knew in my head what I wanted to create and decided to give it a go.
