EyeTV Netstream DTT : TV Heaven

With the exception of Apple’s heralded iPad there really hasn’t been many technological announcements that have excited the TotalApps team. Even the Apple iPad doesn’t fill me with the same “I have to have it” feeling the iPhone launch created.

Yesterday all that changed and the excitements were at their highest for 2010 when I managed to get my hands on Elgato’s new revolutionary EyeTV Netstream DTT.

Canon have just announced the latest to their sub £1000 digital SLR range in the form of the new 550D.  The EOS 550D is a reasonable upgrade over the 500D especially if you use your camera for digital video production. The camera, incorporates technologies and features more commonly found in semi-professional DSLRs into the compact, lightweight body favoured by consumers.

The iPad : an iWonder ?

The iPad : an iWonder ?

Well it is all over, the much speculated, rumoured, discussed Apple product is out there for public awe. Like many tech lovers I hogged the various live blogs waiting for the next nugget of information on the new Apple wonder product.

Twitter survived the onslaught of people tweeting information from the live blogs to their friends who were in fact also reading the same blogs anyway, but was it the same buzz as the iPhone ? well no, but how could it have been ?

Top 5 Uses of a Gorilla Mobile 3G/3GS

Top 5 Uses of a Gorilla Mobile 3G/3GS

A few months ago I reviewed the amazing Joby Gorillapod SLR that I now use literally full time for macro photography (a few examples). This week I have been playing with the Gorillmobile 3G/3GS based on the same principle but with the latest Apple iPhone 3G and 3Gs models in mind.

Phone cameras have gone from low quality away photos to being one of the most popular photo platforms used today. I used to think a camera phone was never going to be good enough to compete with the compact camera, I was wrong.

New : Apple iTunes Remote

New : Apple iTunes Remote

Despite being informed of a delay I am happy to report that Apple’s new iTunes remote  safely arrived at TotalApps Towers today. The remote is definitely an upgrade on the previous plastic white remote.

The device is amazingly thin, but also much longer than the first generation remote. The new remote doesn’t bring any additional functionality to the device but the repositioned buttons are definitely easier to use and the remote feels much more responsive with the AppleTV than the supplied white remote.

Magic Mouse is Mighty

Magic Mouse is Mighty

Well I finally managed to get my hands on Apple’s new Magic Mouse. Despite the mouse being no longer ‘mighty’ the new device certainly surpasses my expectations. Looking back it appears I am particularly hard on Apple mice having managed to go through quite a number of Mighty Mice in my time.

Within two months the scroll ball on the top would be permanently stuck and a few months after that I would have to turn off the expose option as the mouse would frantically spasm into expose mode on and off. I even attempted to take the mouse apart to give it a clean which resulted in a trip to the Apple Store for a replacement.
