With the exception of Apple’s heralded iPad there really hasn’t been many technological announcements that have excited the TotalApps team. Even the Apple iPad doesn’t fill me with the same “I have to have it” feeling the iPhone launch created.

Yesterday all that changed and the excitements were at their highest for 2010 when I managed to get my hands on Elgato’s new revolutionary EyeTV Netstream DTT.

Apple have announced a major upgrade to the RAW photography application Aerture. Aperture 3 features over 200 new features including Faces, Places and Brushes. Building on the innovative Faces and Places features introduced in iPhoto ’09, Aperture 3 makes it even easier and faster to organise large photo libraries.

If you have been anywhere near a computer in the last few weeks you will be well aware that Apple have just announced their first tablet offering. The $400 device is apparently going to revolutionise our lives and how we interact with technology for ever.

One of the application showcased was an art package allowing you to draw and paint directly via “multi-touch” and create your own digital masterpiece. It made me consider the fact we have actually been doing this in schools for quite some time all thanks to the versatile Wacom Bamboo series. (Full review of the Bamboo Fun).

Well it is all over, the much speculated, rumoured, discussed Apple product is out there for public awe. Like many tech lovers I hogged the various live blogs waiting for the next nugget of information on the new Apple wonder product.

Twitter survived the onslaught of people tweeting information from the live blogs to their friends who were in fact also reading the same blogs anyway, but was it the same buzz as the iPhone ? well no, but how could it have been ?

I am a massive fan of using mind maps both in project planning and in educational management. The ability to visualise concepts and plan processes definitely results in a much high success rate and much less stressful journey.

The good news is Mindjet have just announced the availability of MindManager 8 for Mac. This latest generation of the product offers more functionality and better integration with native Mac applications to help increase personal productivity, better manage information and drive business results for Mac users.

Northern Ireland based production company Straandlooper Animation has announced what it believes to be a first, the rollout of its exciting 52 part animated kids TV series Lifeboat Luke, as interactive games called ‘Spotisodes’. Available for the iPhone and iPod Touch they will be released every Friday throughout the year on the iTunes App Store.
