This week’s Five Apps Friday is a little special as we have one of my favourite female artists Beth Rowley talking us through her favourite iPod Touch applications.

Beth has a spectacular voice and tremendous song writing talent. Fusing a vintage sound & sensibility with a joyous, contemporary edge, she really is essential listening. If you have not heard any of Beth’s work then check out the video at the bottom of the post.

1. I Swap Faces

I’m super new to apps. literally I’m learning the basics so a few mates have been kind and set me up with some cool ones. This one was shown to me by a good friend as he knew it would be right up my street its soo funny!

This app lets you swap faces by taking photos of yourself and your mate and just exchanging the faces over. People say my  brother and I could be twins and it was so weird seeing what I’d look like with his face! Facial hair is soo cool- I’d definitly have a big tash if was a bloke! [Link]

2. Binaural Beats

I love this app, you can pick different sounds, like rain, waves, crickets and other something sounds to create your own little relaxing sleepy world. My favorite is heavy rain which i tuck just under my pillow before bed time, sends me right off. [Link]

3. Facebook

I got a bit over excited for a while bout having access to everything all the time like email accounts, myspace, facebook, phone, texts etc, it started to become annoying to people as I was always distracted and I realised its really quite rude too! so I’ve cut it down to just Facebook and this app lets me access my mails really quickly and I can have a peek at what my mates are up to, while I’m in between rehearsals and sound checks. 4. Train Trax

I started going to yoga recently cos i realised i can’t touch my toes, (she said sheepishly) and I also started running too which is where this app is comes in handy.

I only run for a about half hour at the moment just to start with, but this app is great as it maps out your route for you and tells you how many miles your running and how many calories you burn, and your idea running speed etc.

I’m starting easy so I keep enjoying it with the hope of building it up and up! I know someone who runs for about 2 hours twice a week and this app is really helpful for her. [Link]

5. Clear Tune

I love this app. I use it all the time its so handy to have a tuner at the ready when ever you need one! And you can be sure that everyone else will be dead impressed when your in the middle of a forest in sweden and need to tune your guitar really quickly! [Link]
