Canon have just announced the latest to their sub £1000 digital SLR range in the form of the new 550D.  The EOS 550D is a reasonable upgrade over the 500D especially if you use your camera for digital video production. The camera, incorporates technologies and features more commonly found in semi-professional DSLRs into the compact, lightweight body favoured by consumers.

Ceacreed have released an updated version of the Elasty HD easy to use video editing application for Mac. Elasty HD gives you access to features pretty common in image processing but far less usual when you process movies: rotate, flip and crop features. It’s a good starting point but Elasty HD also has more advanced features which would rejoice 7th art experts: image stabilization, smart special effects and retiming. Imagine all the things you could do!

Today sees two important upgrades in preparation for the Apple iPad device. The first update is to iTunes 9.0.3 providing a number of important bug fixes, including, iTunes no longer ignores your “Remember password for purchases” setting, Addresses problems with syncing some Smart Playlists and Podcasts with iPod, Resolves a problem recognizing when iPod is connected and the update also addresses issues that affect stability and performance.

If you have been anywhere near a computer in the last few weeks you will be well aware that Apple have just announced their first tablet offering. The $400 device is apparently going to revolutionise our lives and how we interact with technology for ever.

One of the application showcased was an art package allowing you to draw and paint directly via “multi-touch” and create your own digital masterpiece. It made me consider the fact we have actually been doing this in schools for quite some time all thanks to the versatile Wacom Bamboo series. (Full review of the Bamboo Fun).
